It is well known that company cars have a high mileage and one of the ways an company can save allot of money is to buy cars with lower fuel consumption. That is the fact in which Peugeot can see the opportunity to deliver its light commercial vehicle Partner but as an electric car.
For this car to be successful Peugeot knows that they need to deliver vehicle that will deliver same amount of available space, ease of driving, modularity and everything else that a regular version offers. At Hanover Motor Show that was held this month we were able to see the Prologue that represents the announcement of electric version of small commercial vehicle.
Since this car has a zero emission it is allowed to go in a areas where it did not have access before because of CO2 emission. Power comes from two high energy lithium ion batteries that brings total capacity of 22.5 kWh. These batteries are fitted to the underbody near the rear axel, on both sides, so it still delivers same amount of cargo space like the regular version.
The Partner Electric has, according to Peugeot, a high performance and compact electric motor of the permanent magnet, synchronous type. This motor has a power of 49 kWh (67 bhp) and torque of 200Nm, available instantly. Associated with a constant single speed gear reduction unit, the result is a sensation of brio and flexibility as soon as the vehicle moves off and during all phases off acceleration − without the need to change gear.
There are two modes of charging and it uses up to 16 amps and it need from six to 9 hours to be fully charged. Fast charge mode uses up to 125 amps and to reach about 80 percent of a charge it needs only 30 minutes. Estimated range according to European cycle NEDC is about 169 km or 105 miles.
